Richard McCarron is the District 11 Legislator. He was appointed to the Onondaga County Legislature in March 2023.

Growing up in New Jersey, Legislator McCarron came to Syracuse to attend Le Moyne College and never left.  He now lives in the Town of Onondaga, is married, and has two children and three dogs. He works as a Licensed Real Estate Associate Broker at Your CNY Home - The Rich McCarron Team at EXP Realty.

Rich served as a Deputy Sheriff for over 20 years with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.  He’s now Vice Chairperson of the Legislature’s Public Safety committee and feels we are at a critical point when it comes to keeping our community safe. He says with a failed bail reform holding law enforcement hostage, our neighborhoods have seen an increase in crime and we need to work hard to allow our police officers to do their jobs and keep our streets safe.

Rich also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Health & Human Services committee.
