Thanks to RLCC, OCC will remain affordable
Onondaga Community College will continue to be one of the most affordable of all the community colleges in New York State, as the Onondaga County Legislature has approved their nearly $68 million dollar operating budget for 2025-2026. OCC requested no increase in funding from the county, which is responsible for a portion of the school’s budget along with New York State and student tuition and fees. The cost of tuition does go up for the first time in two years, but by a modest 2%.
OCC President Dr. Warren Hilton shared budget details at a joint meeting of the Legislature’s Ways & Means and County Facilities committee. He also provided specifics for OCC’s capital funding requests, totaling $14.4 million dollars, which were also approved by the Legislature. The work includes renovations at Gordon Student Center, which houses a cafeteria and many student service offices, along with the replacement of doors, stairs and floors across campus and updated infrastructure to better prevent cybersecurity threats.
““Thank you to OCC for the smooth budget process, and a responsible budget that includes much needed capital improvements to prepare for the future while improving the student experience.””
““I think OCC has done a fantastic job changing the curriculum to meet the community need and is a tremendous asset for our county.””
