Geneanne Keegan-Smith

Geneanne Keegan-Smith was born and raised in Syracuse, New York, and is a lifelong resident of the Town of Onondaga. She is a 1990 graduate of Westhill High School and went on to attend Onondaga Community College, where she earned her Business Administration degree in 1993.
That same year, Geneanne began her career with the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets, Division of the New York State Fair. Over the course of more than 30 years, she played an integral role in supporting and managing one of the largest annual events in the country, welcoming more than one million visitors each year while working alongside partners from across Onondaga County and New York State.
Throughout her career, Geneanne has worked collaboratively with vendors, exhibitors, state agencies, law enforcement, transportation partners, and community organizations to solve problems, improve operations, and deliver successful large-scale public events. She also played a key role in coordinating operations at the New York State COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Site at the Expo Center, working alongside multiple state and local agencies during a critical time for the community.
Today, Geneanne continues her commitment to public service as Assistant Event Director and Fundraising Manager for The Baldwin Fund. In this role, she helps secure funding through sponsorships, grants, donors, and events, while building strong relationships with community partners to advance breast cancer research and support programs.
She is also a strong advocate for expanding access to advanced cancer care and proudly supports ongoing efforts to bring a designated National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center to the Upstate Cancer Center—an initiative that would greatly benefit patients in Onondaga County, New York State, and beyond.
Above all, Geneanne is deeply devoted to her family and lives by the belief that family always comes first. She has been married to her husband, Frank, for 25 years. Together, they have two children: Ella, who works at Upstate Medical University, and Keegan, who works at the Onondaga County Board of Elections. Geneanne’s 92-year-old mother, Mary, also resides with them, along with their two beloved dogs, Holli Mae and Maizy Grace, who are truly part of the family.
